Megan Fox is the latest celebrity to get engaged after beau Machine Gun Kelly popped the question earlier this month.
Kelly, whose real name is Colson Baker, proposed with an emerald and diamond sparkler which represents each of their birth stones.
But the thorn-shaped ring is designed to hurt if Megan ever takes it off. This is because “love is pain”, according to Kelly.
And Megan is not the only one rocking a massive sparkler on her ring finger in 2022.
While Victoria Beckham is said to have worn 15 engagement rings since husband David proposed back in 1998.
Here we look back at some of the biggest and best celebrity engagement rings over the years. Which is your favourite?
Megan Fox
Machine Gun Kelly designed Megan Fox’s unique double pear-shaped ring to represent their undying love.
It is thought to be worth up to £400,000 and was made by jeweller Stephen Webster.
Explaining the design, Kelly said: “I know tradition is one ring, but I designed it to be two: the emerald (her birth stone) and the diamond (my birth stone) set on two magnetic bands of thorns that draw together as two halves of the same soul forming the obscure heart that is our love.”
The rocker’s design echoes Megan’s feelings about their love, as she said in an interview last year she believes they are a “twin flame”.
Kourtney Kardashian
Travis Barker chose an extravagant rock for now-fiancee Kourtney Kardashian, but the one-of-a-kind ring is even more special than first thought.
The huge stone dazzles on the 42-year-old's finger after the 45-year-old drummer popped the question In October.
But it's been revealed Travis did more than just pick out the diamond – he helped design it too.
Celebrity jeweller Lorraine Schwartz told PEOPLE: "It’s a flawless, beautifully cut diamond stone.
"I worked on it with Travis and he was a really big part of it. He was really hands-on in the whole making of it. It’s gorgeous and they’re happy."
Paris Hilton
Paris Hilton £2 million sparkler is thought to be one of the priciest celebrity engagement rings of 2021.
Entrepreneur Carter Reum proposed to Paris on her 40th birthday in February last year and they tied the knot in November.
Carter popped the question on a private beach with an emerald-cut diamond ring designed by Jean Dousset, the great-great-grandson of Louis-Francois Cartier.
In a nod to the bride's name, the three-stone ring was inspired by Paris landmarks including the Grand Palais and the Eiffel Tower.
Britney Spears
Britney Spears' boyfriend Sam Asghari put a £52,000 ring on her finger in September last year and the pair plan to wed in 2022.
Announcing the happy news on Instagram, Britney told her 33 million followers: "I can’t f****** believe it," followed by a host of ring emojis.
Sam designed the four carat diamond ring with Forever Diamonds NY. It features a floating solitaire setting with pavé diamonds on the bridge and more diamonds on the prongs.
But perhaps the most romantic gesture is the engraving inside, which reads 'Lioness,' Sam's nickname for Britney.
Katy Perry
Pirates of the Caribbean star Orlando Bloom proposed to singer Katy Perry on Valentine’s Day 2019 with a £3.8 million pink flower-shaped rock.
The Roar singer confirmed the happy news with a post on Instagram , showing off the massive ruby sparkler on her wedding finger which she captioned: "Full Bloom".
In March last year Katy sparked rumours she had secretly married Orlando after she was spotted wearing a gold band on her wedding finger.
It comes after the couple welcomed a baby girl, Daisy Dove, together in 2020. But neither of them have confirmed they are now husband and wife.
Beyonce
With a nickname like Queen Bey, it was only going to be the best for Beyonce when husband Jay-Z popped the question in 2008.
Jay reportedly paid around £5 million for his wife’s huge emerald cut engagement ring which is said to weigh in at 24 carats.
But last year it seemed Bey had swapped her original ring for another diamond sparkler.
This promoted speculation she had upgraded her engagement ring, but knowing Bey it’s just another one to add to her diamond collection.
Megan Markle
Prince Harry proposed to Meghan Markle with a gold diamond engagement ring, using stones from his mum Princess Diana's collection.
But the piece was redesigned around the time of their first wedding anniversary so it was more meaningful to the royal couple by jeweller-to-the-stars Lorraine Schwartz, a favourite of Meghan's.
It is made with two diamonds from his mum Princess Diana ’s jewellery collection and one from Botswana, where Harry does a lot of charity work.
Meghan also couldn't wear her ring during the final stages of her pregnancy, so it's likely that's when she had the work done.
Ariana Grande
Ariana Grande’s engagement ring features a touching detail in a sweet nod to her late grandfather.
Said to be worth £750,000, Ariana said "Yes" when boyfriend Dalton Gomez popped the question back in 2020. They tied the knot in a low key ceremony in 2021.
The ring features a pearl sitting next to a huge tilted diamond on the band.
Fans recognised the pearl from a tweet Ariana made back in 2014, in which the singer told fans that her beloved grandmother Nonna made the ring for her.
"Nonna had a ring made for me w/ the pearl from grandpa's tie pin," Ariana wrote. "She says he told her in a dream it'd protect me <3."
Pippa Middleton
Kate Middleton’s sister Pippa is married to hedge fund manager James Matthews, who she shares three-year-old son Arthur with.
But her £275,000 Art Deco diamond engagement ring from her 2016 proposal is still one of the nicest celebrity engagement rings we’ve seen.
Dubbed “her royal hotness” after she was bridesmaid at her sister’s wedding to Prince William in 2011, Pippa was said to be “totally surprised” by the proposal. At the time her and James had been dating for just over a year.
Jewellery experts from London’s Hatton Garden diamond district said the ring James proposed with is only available to less than one per cent of the population due to its size and price.
Kate Middleton
One of the most recognisable celebrity engagement rings of all time has to be Kate Middleton’s.
The Duchess of Cambridge's sparkling sapphire is one of her most famous pieces of jewellery.
It once belonged to husband Prince William's late mother, Princess Diana, and features a 12-carat oval blue sapphire surrounded by fourteen solitaire diamonds.
Kate hasn’t taken it off her hand since William popped the question in 2010 – apart from the time she got it altered as the band had become too big and was "turning on her finger".
Kim Kardashian
Though she is technically a single lady these days after starting divorce proceedings against ex Kanye West, who can forgot the rock he bought her?
The huge sparkler is said to be worth £1 million and the 16 carat Cushion cut is similar to the one the reality star was given by ex-husband Kris Humphries.
Kanye popped the question on Kim’s on 33rd birthday and they tied the knot in a lavish ceremony in 2014.
But four kids later the pair split over Kanye’s alleged cheating and both have since moved on with new partners.
Victoria Beckham
They’ve been a celebrity couple ever since David Beckham put a ring on Victoria’s finger back in 2008 when she was still a Spice Girl.
But not content with just one engagement ring, Victoria is rumoured to have had 15 engagement rings over the course of their 20-year marriage.
When David first proposed he did it with a simple three-carat marquise-cut diamond on a plain yellow gold band, which reportedly cost £85,000 at the time.
Since then, Victoria has been spotted wearing a platinum eternity band, pink oval-cut diamond, large emerald-cut ring, an oval-cut ruby ring and a huge oval-cut sapphire.
Since 2018, she has worn a square yellow-cut diamond on a pave diamond band.
