Beauty standards have always existed in Hollywood and certain celebrities have resorted to plastic surgery to enhance their looks. However, this trend has also affected other actresses who have nothing to do with the procedure as seen with Moriarty earlier this year. Harry Potter star Emma Watson also felt the pressure to conform to Hollywood’s ideal beauty standards, but didn’t succumb to it.

Hollywood has not been historically kind to women as they were expected to look and behave a certain way. The obsession with slim physiques and fair complexion led to many feeling humiliated and undermined by the industry. While some resorted to means like plastic surgery to maintain their youthful look, others simply went against the beauty standard that existed through their hard work and talent.
In recent years, many people have wrongly accused various actresses of undergoing plastic surgery when there is a slight change in their facial structure. The Boys star Erin Moriarty received significant hate from fans for her face as many allegedly believed she had work done (which the actress denied). Even Megyn Kelly, the host of the popular The Megyn Kelly Show vilified the actress publicly on her talk show, which left Moriarty horrified and heartbroken.
Other actresses like Emma Watson have also been aware of the plastic surgery trend that young celebrities were getting themselves into to enhance their looks and physical appearance. The pressure to look glamorous everywhere and anytime within the industry is overwhelming. However, the Harry Potter star is comfortable in her own skin and does not want to get any kind of unnecessary work done on her imperfect body. She said (via Daily Mail),
I find LA quite scary because of that — all those young people having plastic surgery. I don’t have perfect teeth, I’m not stick thin. I want to be the person who feels great in her body and can say that she loves it and doesn’t want to change anything. I think the actresses who are really successful are the ones who are comfortable in their own skins and still look human.
The hedonistic and sexist perception around body image and looks have slowly changed over the years, but women continue to be mocked and criticized based on their looks. Nevertheless, actresses like Watson and Moriarty have proved that one’s physical appearance is insignificant in the grand scheme of things, and one’s talents and hard work prevail at the end.

Erin Moriarty’s Starlight has had a complex relationship with every member of the Seven in The Boys. However, she has the biggest resentment for The Deep as he was the one who humiliated her when she first joined the Seven in season 1. The two have had a conflicting relationship since then and fans got to see them go for each other’s throats in season 4.
In a recent interview with Comicbook.com, the actress revealed that it makes sense for The Deep to die at the hands of Starlight and she believes that it will be cathartic karma for what The Deep did to her. However, the Deep should be the one to provoke her to a fight for that to happen as she can’t randomly kill someone just like that. Moriarty said,
But she’s got to at least get The Deep, let me kill the fish guy at least, bare minimum for God’s sake…But it needs to be under circumstances where she’s provoked at first because that’s her. She can’t just go and kill someone. They need to attack her and it’s self-defense because she’s Annie.
The ending of season 4 saw Annie escaping the capture of various members of The Boys and America being under Homelander’s rule. It remains to be seen if the character gets the poetic justice she deserves in season 5.
All four seasons of The Boys are streaming on Prime Video.
