Megan Fox has been heavily criticised after urging fans to help her friend reach a $30,000 (£23,000) fundraising goal.
The actress shared her friend's GoFundMe page on her Instagram Story and asked her followers to help in any way they could. The fundraiser was set up by her pal Brittney Boyce, whose father Michael has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
The 64-year-old was diagnosed earlier this month and his family are hoping to raise enough money to cover his medical expenses "so he can focus on himself and not the stress on finances".
Sharing the fundraising page, 37-year-old Megan said: "My friends dad was just diagnosed with pancreatic cancer if you guys are able to help please."
While she tried to do a good deed, fans have been left "speechless" and questioned why she can't use her reported net worth of $8million (£6million) to help out.
Taking to Twitter to share their thoughts, one person wrote: "Megan Fox asking fans to donate, to raise 30 grand for her dads mates cancer treatment, is an absolute p**s take!"
Another said: "Megan fox sharing a gofundme for 30k has got to be a joke," while a third person tweeted: "Millionaire Megan Fox just posted a gofundme on her Instagram story for her friend's dad's 30 grand cancer medical bills and I am absolutely speechless."
However, others rushed to defend Megan and said she could have donated in private.
"She gave something too im sure," one person suggested.
Another said: "I am wrong often. It seems like she was trying to do a nice thing by passing along, how people could help out the man, if they were able to. People that have money, often donate silently, without seeking the accolades."
Other fans said Megan is paid a relatively little wage for her work, with one person tweeting: "My question is why people shitting on Megan fox for crowd funding for her friends even though she’s an underpaid actress? No shade."
