Megan Fox has taken aim at the "weirdos" who were left "speechless" after she urged fans to donate to her friend's $30,000 (£23,000) GoFundMe page.
The actress, 37, took to Instagram on Thursday to explain why she asked her followers to help with the fundraiser and said anything she gives will be done "privately". She also refused to be accused of "lacking generosity".
Megan's pal Brittney Boyce set up the fundraiser after her father Michael was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. The 64-year-old was diagnosed earlier this month and his family are hoping to raise enough money to cover his medical expenses "so he can focus on himself."
Megan had originally shared the fundraiser on social media, but faced backlash for not using her own money to help out. The star is said to have a net worth of $8million (£6million).
Hitting back at the criticism, Megan wrote: "Hey weirdos. Do any of you have the emotional intelligence to consider that maybe brit doesn't want her celebrity clients donating large sums of money to her because it creates a dynamic in her working relationships that makes her uncomfortable?
"So instead she asked me to post the gofundme so that many people could donate small amounts of money to help them reach their goal. I just obliged her request.
"Anything she needs from me personally she will ask and i will do it privately. One thing you're not going to accuse me of is being miserly or lacking generosity. So try again another day (probably tmw!) with some different bulls**t you bunch of psychos."
While some people had originally slammed Megan for asking for help, others assumed she would have donated in private. Taking to Twitter, one person suggested: "She gave something too im sure."
Another said: "I am wrong often. It seems like she was trying to do a nice thing by passing along, how people could help out the man, if they were able to. People that have money, often donate silently, without seeking the accolades."
Other fans said Megan is paid a relatively little wage for her work, with one person tweeting: "My question is why people s***ting on Megan fox for crowd funding for her friends even though she’s an underpaid actress? No shade."
