It has been quite a while since people have seen Emma Watson in a film. Her last theatrical film was 2019’s Little Women and the actress has since taken a hiatus from the industry. In an interview with The Financial Times, Watson revealed that she felt caged in the industry and found it hard to sell films that she did not have any control over.
The Harry Potter star stated that she felt unhappy with how her career was going and thus had to step away from it for the time being to focus on her business ventures. She said,
I think I felt a bit caged. The thing I found really hard was that I had to go out and sell something that I really didn’t have very much control over. It was very difficult to have to be the face and the spokesperson for things where I didn’t get to be involved in the process.
On the positive side, Watson also teased that she will absolutely return to acting in the future with the right project saying “I’m happy to sit and wait for the next right thing. I love what I do”. The actress is currently busy maintaining her family business with her brother Alex on the wine-inspired gin called Renais, and it remains to be seen when she decides to return to acting.
